THE PAINTING COLLECTION of the Romanian Academy is made up of 170 canvases, most of them the works of Romanian masters of the 19th-20th centuries: Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Nicolae Tonitza, Nicolae Darascu, Theodor Pallady, Gh. Patrascu and others. All have been either donated, some by the artists themselves, or purchased, and are on permanent display at the Romanian Academy’s headquarters at 125 Victoria Avenue.

All the art collections and collections of antiquities and objects of great cultural importance of the Romanian Academy will find conditions of optimum conservation and display within the two new Academy buildings currently under construction: The House of the Academy (Casa Academiei), a modern facility which will house many of the research institutes under the tutelage of the Academy, and the new Academy Library (Biblioteca Academiei) building.
